Women leaders in Liberia

Our Story

Built on Belief. Rooted in Liberia.

We started with a simple conviction: that women farmers in Liberia have everything it takes to transform their communities — they just need the tools and support to do it.

A Message from Our Founder

Why I Started Kendra's Korner

Kendra's Korner originated from Kendra's visit to a village perched atop a mountain in Lofa County, Liberia. During her time in the village, a local woman graciously offered Kendra a small portion of the limited food she had for her family. The woman was preparing some okra, though it was hardly enough, yet she was eager to share what little she possessed. A few days later, after returning to her compound, Kendra was profoundly moved by the woman's generous offer. This prompted her to organize a donation of bags of rice for the woman and other villagers. Kendra personally covered the expenses for the journey back to the village, which was over five hours away, as well as the cost of the rice. After reflecting for several days, Kendra was inspired by the needs of the woman and the villagers, leading her to establish the initiative known as Kendra's Korner. As news of Kendra's Korner spread throughout Liberia, it attracted attention from other women, who formed an association aimed at engaging in farming to sustain themselves and sell their produce at roadside stands or in local markets.

Research shows that approximately 80% of the agricultural workforce in Liberia is made up of women, who are responsible for producing over 93% of the nation's food supply. Despite their significant contributions, female farmers in Liberia face challenges such as limited access to modern farming tools, agricultural resources, and land ownership rights. Kendra's Korner is dedicated to enhancing women's involvement in the agricultural value chain. Join Kendra's Korner from any corner of the world to support this essential and meaningful cause.

Kendra's Korner was born from that belief. Every program we run, every resource we distribute, every woman we train — it's all in honor of my grandmother and the millions of women like her across Liberia.
